Distro, Engadget's Weekly Magazine, Hits Issue 100!
Jul 26, 2013
Ask any member of the Distro staff, and they'll tell you it feels like just yesterday Engadget's tablet magazine launched. But nearly two years later, Distro's 100th issue hits app stores today!
The free app was designed to sum up the top Engadget news and stories in a digestible, weekly tablet magazine and issue after issue has given readers an in-depth look at their favorite technologies in a beautifully designed and easy-to-use app. Let's take a walk down memory lane:
- October 2011 – Distro launches as one of the first tablet magazines for a major Web property and debuted at No. 1 for free news apps in the iTunes app store
- December 2011 – Distro debuts on the Android Market and cracks top 10 on Apple's Newsstand
- January 2012 – Distro becomes the first magazine to publish not one, but two, issues onsite at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES)
- January 2013 – Distro outdoes itself and publishes four issues over the course of the five-day CES show
A remarkable CES 2013 set Distro on a good track for the rest of this year with industry award recognition, including a 2013 Appy for Best Consumer Magazine/Newspaper App.
Distro leaves the steady stream of news to Engadget and brings the best of the site straight to iPads, Android and Windows 8 tablets. And this issue is no different with the staff list of "100 Gadgets We Love." The list will feature just a few of their all-time favorite smartphones, tablets, cameras, consoles, PCs, robots and even a blender.
