AOL Mail gadget for iGoogleToday AOL introduced an enhanced version of the AOL Mail gadget offering users the ability to safely manage their AOL and AIM Mail accounts through the iGoogle homepage. Leveraging iGoogle’s new canvas view feature, AOL Mail users can now read, reply to, forward, delete and mark new mail as spam; as well as compose new mail without leaving the iGoogle page.

The enhanced AOL Mail gadget is one of the first three iGoogle gadgets to be built using OAuth, a privacy-preserving security standard that allows users to safely pass personalized information across the Web. Because OAuth helps ensure security, AOL users can feel safer accessing their private Mail accounts through the iGoogle homepage.

iGoogle users with an AOL, AIM or tunome.com identity can use the new gadget to access their mail. Users in the United States who are already using the existing AOL Mail gadget to preview mail on the iGoogle homepage should click here to add the new gadget and also remove the old gadget from their homepage.

AOL worked closely with Google to enhance the AOL Mail experience on iGoogle, and will continue to work with the company to introduce more gadget functionality. Localized versions of the gadget will launch in several geographies over the next few months.
