President, AOL Media
As President of AOL Media, Bill Wilson is responsible for AOL’s global Web properties, including AOL’s MediaGlow content and commerce sites. MediaGlow includes AOL.com, and vertical sites in Women & Lifestyle, News, Sports, Money & Finance, Music, Movies, TV, Celebrity, Games, Latino, and Kids categories. It also includes AOL’s targeted sites such as Asylum, AutoBlog, BlackVoices, Bloggingstocks, Cinematical, Engadget, GameDaily, Fleaflicker, Joystiq, Lemondrop, ParentDish, Pixcetera, Politics Daily, PopEater, Spinner, StyleList, TheBoot, TheBoombox, TourTracker, TV Squad, WalletPop, Winamp, WoW.com, and others. And it includes AOL’s commerce and marketplace channels -- AOL Autos, AOL Real Estate, AOL Travel and AOL Shopping -- as well as AOL’s international programming efforts and its state-of-the-art studios in New York and Los Angeles. Wilson also manages the global product strategy for AOL Search, where he is responsible for defining the consumer experience. Under his leadership, AOL’s MediaGlow sites have grown to reach more than 75 million unique visitors every month.
Wilson joined AOL from BMG Entertainment where he served as Senior Vice President for Worldwide Marketing and managed the marketing campaigns for the world's biggest artists including Outkast, Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews Band, Santana, and Whitney Houston. He began his career in entertainment at BMG's most successful record label Arista Records under the leadership of the legendary Clive Davis and was the principal product manager for a variety of artists including Notorious BIG, Sarah McLachlan, Monica, Spiritualized, and Kenny G.
Wilson, who won an Emmy Award in 2006 for AOL's Live 8 program, was named on the Hollywood Reporter’s “Digital Power List” in 2008 which profiles the 50 people most influencing the creation and distribution of content online, Crain's New York Business "40 under Forty" in 2005, Billboard's "Power Players" in Digital Entertainment in 2005, and Hollywood Reporter's "Next Generation" in 2003.
He graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a BA in economics and a BS in business management and earned an MBA with honors in finance and marketing from Rutgers University's Graduate School of Management.
