Montreal, QC -- FEBRUARY 8, 2012 -- Le Huffington Post Quebec, the second French language version of The Huffington Post ("HuffPost"), the popular news and opinion site, goes live today. The site features HuffPost's unique combination of original reporting, aggregation, a leading edge commenting forum, pioneering social engagement tools, and a vibrant platform for a wide range of bloggers to contribute. The announcement was made today by Arianna Huffington, president and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, and Graham Moysey, general manager of AOL Canada.

Le Huffington Post Quebec combines HuffPost's powerful engagement platform with local expertise from a talented Quebec-based editorial team led by the site's managing editor, Patrick White. Jean-Philippe Cipriani is news editor and Tamy-Emma Pepin is managing blog editor. Bloggers who will be contributing to the site include: Michel Martelly, Yves-François Blanchet, Michel Kelly Gagnon, Julius Grey and Anne Marie Withenshaw, and more.

Said Arianna Huffington: "At the Huffington Post, we've always done things unconventionally. Last May, we launched HuffPost Canada, our first international edition. Last month we launched Le Huffington Post in France. And I'm delighted today to announce the launch of Le Huffington Post Quebec, an edition encompassing all things Quebec and run by a strong local team. Working closely with our Canada team, HuffPost Quebec will be bringing our signature mix of news, blogging, community, and social engagement to Quebec in a way that reflects the province's vital issues, rich history, and unique cultural identity."

Said Graham Moysey: "Debuting in Quebec is the next logical step for us following on the heels of our successful Huffington Post Canada launch in May. The Huffington Post Canada has more than 2.2 million unique visitors a month – 268,000 UV's from Quebec alone – and the site has grown 162 percent since launch. We look forward to bringing to Quebec the smart news, real-time opinion, and vibrant social nature of the Huffington Post platform."*

Le Huffington Post Quebec launches with advertising partner Bell Canada and its agency, Media Experts, featuring ads for Fibe TV.

The Huffington Post is part of AOL's Huffington Post Media Group, a leading source of news, opinion, entertainment, community and digital information, which includes Moviefone, Engadget, TechCrunch, Patch, and StyleList. The Group's diverse network of sites combines journalism, technology, engagement, and video to reach a global audience on every platform. The Group has over 20,000 bloggers -- from politicians and celebrities to academics and policy experts -- who contribute in real-time on a wide-range of topics making news today. Among them are Nora Ephron, Larry Page, David Suzuki, Bill Maher, Robert Redford, Madonna, Alec Baldwin, Scarlett Johansson, Bill Gates, and Charlie Rose. The Huffington Post has 36 million unique visitors a month (comScore, Dec. 2011). The Huffington Post UK and The Huffington Post Canada both launched last year, Le Huffington Post France launched in January 2011, El Huffington Post Spain is scheduled to launch in March, and the recently announced L'Huffington Post Italia is also scheduled to launch this year.
