More Than 2.67 Million Votes Cast for Thousands of Restaurants, Bars and Venues Across the U.S.

NEW YORK – July 22, 2008 – AOL announced the City's Best 2008 winners among more than 8,000 nominees across the country. More than 2.67 million votes were cast by local consumers who picked winners in 40 markets nationwide. A complete list of winners is available at http://www.aol.com/citysbest.  The annual City's Best campaign is produced by AOL CityGuide, a leading online local entertainment guide.

Each year, the City’s Best program recognizes the best restaurants, bars and venues across more than 30 categories such as Best Burgers, Best Cheap Eats, Best Romantic Restaurants, Best Sports Bars and much more. City’s Best also highlights local dining and nightlife with a wide-array of market-specific categories including Best Fish Tacos in San Diego, Best Chowder in Boston, and Best Country Bar in Nashville.

With more and more consumers accessing AOL CityGuide’s local entertainment guides while on the go, votes for Best Restaurant and Best Bar were cast this year exclusively via mobile devices.

"Millions of consumers rely on AOL’s comprehensive local entertainment guides to help find restaurants and things to do, and for the past nine years we’ve turned to our users to help us recognize the best of the best in their cities,” said Chris Spanos, General Manager, AOL Search Verticals. “This year’s City’s Best program was one of our biggest yet and consumers across the country let their opinions be heard by casting millions of votes. Our congratulations go out to all of the City’s Best 2008 winners and nominees.”

City's Best 2008 nominations were based both on insights of the City’s Best editorial team and user feedback. Consumers' votes ultimately determined which venues were chosen No. 1 in their categories.  Voting for City’s Best 2008 began on May 8, 2008 and concluded on July 10, 2008.
