HuffPost Canada: Going Coastal
The site will deepen the conversations around the stories that matter most to those living in British Columbia, including politics, opinion, environment, affordable housing, lifestyle, and news. HuffPost B.C. will inform, inspire and connect readers to a platform that allows them to be involved in their online communitiesand the stories that move them.

The Huffington Post Canada's first regional expansion, Le Huffington Post Québec launched in February 2012; regional expansion into the Western Provinces of Canada includes The Huffington Post Alberta ("HuffPost Alberta") also launching today. The Huffington Post reaches 3.4 million online Canadians and has grown 117%* since launch. Le Huffington Post Québec has seen a similar growth trajectory at 156% since launch. HuffPost B.C. will bring a more local flavour to the already 467,000 monthly unique visitors to Huffington Post sites that reside in B.C.
A Vancouver-based editorial team will be a key ingredient to the success of HuffPost B.C. The site will be managed by news editor Andree Lau, formerly of the CBC, and associate news editor Jesse Ferreras, formerly of Canada.com, reporting to Kenny Yum, managing editor of The Huffington Post Canada. The site will feature contributions from Huffington Post editors, bloggers, andinfluential British Columbians including author Robin Rowland, Elizabeth May, Leader, Green Party of Canada, radio broadcaster and filmmaker Tetsuro Shigematsu, and singer Sarah McLachlan.
Launch week will cover stories such as: the redrawing of federal ridings in B.C. in relation to the effects on the Opposition parties, an expose on liquefied natural gas, a Q&A with chief civilian director for police investigations Richard Rosenthal and a social campaign tagged #BetterBC.

The Huffington Post Canada has an ever-growing social following, boasting more than 50,000 Facebook fans, more than 36,000 Twitter followers and more than 14,000 comments per week. The Huffington Post British Columbia will have a dedicated Facebook page and Twitter account where visitors can connect with the site's content and conversations.
