Robert (Bob) Toohey is Chief People Officer at AOL, leading global human resources strategy and operations, including employee development, talent acquisition, rewards programs, business advisory programs, and AOL workplace programs. A proven operational leader, he is a champion of putting our global talent at the center of driving value to the business by optimizing and developing the way people work.
Prior to joining AOL’s executive team, Toohey served as President of Digital Media Services, successfully leading the company through multiple acquisitions, product developments and tremendous growth. With a significant background in operations and human resources, Toohey's experience spans over 25 years and several key executive positions.
Prior to Digital Media Services, Toohey was Chief Operating Officer of Enterprise Solutions. He also held executive positions in Verizon Business including President where he oversaw several acquisitions and lead the integrations. He served as Senior Vice President of Global Customer Care and also Senior Vice President of Human Resources. He played a key role in the integration of MCI and Cybertrust, and was instrumental in implementing a solutions-based, customer-focused culture.
Toohey began his career at GTE. Over his tenure at GTE, Genuity and Verizon he has held various positions of increasing responsibility in finance, operations, human resources and services.
In December 2012, he was inducted as a Board Member and Trustee of the American Film Institute (AFI). Toohey currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Atlantic Health. He is a member of the Advisory Board for Docusign, a member of the Board of Visitors for Northeastern University College of Business Administration, and also serves on the Advisory Council for Villanova University’s School of Business Center for Global Leadership.
