AOL Names Kate Burns Head of European Sales

NEW YORK, NY, JULY 8, 2009 – AOL appointed Kate Burns as head of its European Sales, responsible for expanding ad sales on AOL’s owned and operated properties in Europe, scaling its Advertising.com third-party network, and delivering unmatched consumer insights. Burns was previously Vice President and Managing Director, Europe, of AOL’s social media company, Bebo. In her new role, Burns will report directly to AOL Global Advertising and Strategy President Jeff Levick.
“Europe is key to realizing our mission of being the largest global platform for online display advertising. Kate is the right person to build our European management sales team and lead this effort,” said Levick. “Kate is a well recognized and highly respected leader in Europe who has the talent, energy and determination to scale our European operations and deliver on this strategy.”

AOL Canada Introduces New Portal That Offers Easy Access to Multiple Services from One Convenient Location
TORONTO, ON – June 30, 2009 – AOL Canada today announced the launch of its new homepage, http://www.aol.ca, which lets consumers access multiple e-mail accounts and social networking services from a single online destination. The new AOL.ca homepage will also be opened to third-party services and content, providing consumers with new customization options while offering advertisers new opportunities to tap into an increasingly engaged audience.
The improved homepage is part of the ongoing strategy from AOL’s publishing division to expand globally, including the launches in Canada of women’s lifestyle site That’s Fit (http://www.thatsfit.ca), which focuses on improving body, mind and relationships, and AOL Music blog Spinner Canada (http://www.spinner.ca), which showcases exclusive content on the Canadian music scene.

AOL launched a new portal in Canada -- AOL.ca -- that provides access to third-party e-mail accounts and social networking services, among other improvements. AOL Canada Senior Director Edward Kwan said the launch in Canada "follows the tremendous successes we’ve experienced in both the U.S. and the UK, enabling exciting new opportunities for the Canadian market."
