Follow Five Startups To TechCrunch Disrupt Startup Battlefield In The Newest AOL Original Docu-Series "The Road To Disrupt"

Los Angeles, Calif. (July 14, 2014) – Today, AOL launched "The Road to Disrupt," a 12-episode documentary series following five startup companies competing in the 2013 San Francisco TechCrunch Disrupt Startup Battlefield - the premiere startup launch competition by TechCrunch - as they fine tune their products and eventually present in front of a panel of judges in hopes of winning $50,000 in funding.

The five tech and digital startup companies featured in the series include Monsieur, Hammer & Chisel, Bitcovery, Ansa and Ossia - and gives viewers an inside look as they prepare to go toe-to-toe with the most innovative ideas in the biz at TechCrunch Disrupt's Startup Battlefield. More information on each of the companies is below:

Monsieur: The Robotic Bartender In A Box. After waiting an absurdly long time for their drinks at a busy restaurant, two Atlanta mechanical engineers took to their dad's garage to create a unique solution. Watch as these young entrepreneurs show off their Android-based, web-connected robotic bartender that mixes cocktails at the press of a button.

Hammer & Chisel: Breaking The Mold In Tablet Gaming. After selling his last startup for over $100 million, Jason Citron turned his innovative lens toward his passion for gaming. See how Hammer & Chisel's project "Fates Forever" incorporates all of the best elements of console games into a multiplayer tablet experience.

Bitcovery: A New Way To Share Your Digital Collection. Startup veterans Raj Lalwani and Alex Wong founded Bitcovery with the goal of creating a digital version of perusing your friend's bookshelf, music, or DVD collection.

Ansa: The SnapChat For Texting. 23-year-old Natalie Bryla created Ansa when she realized we could all use a little social insurance when it comes to texting. This messaging app allows you to permanently delete texts from your friends' phones after sending, so that 3am text to your ex goes away for good.

Ossia: Sparking a New Charge in Wireless Power. Can you imagine never having to plug your phone in to charge it? Engineering phenom Hatem Zeine spent over a decade creating a piece of technology that could revolutionize not only electronics, but how we all use our gadgets

All 12 episodes of "The Road to Disrupt" will be live today on the AOL On Originals home page: on.aol.com/roadtodisrupt. Additionally, the series will be available on mobile devices through the AOL On app and you can follow the social conversation at #roadtodisrupt @AOLOriginals and the featured companies: @Ansa, @bitcovery, @getMonsieur, @hammerandchisel, @ossiainc.

ABOUT TECHCRUNCH DISRUPT
TechCrunch Disrupt is one of the most anticipated technology conferences of the year, and Startup Battlefield is the very heart of the event. Some 30 companies, chosen from hundreds of applicants, launch their products on the Disrupt stage before a live and online audience in front of a panel of expert judges. After the demos, pitches and a tough round of questions, TechCrunch's editors, working with the VCs, seasoned entrepreneurs, and product experts, select six companies for a final, drama-filled round on the third and final day of Disrupt. Only one Battlefield contender can take home a $50,000 check and the coveted Disrupt Cup.
