Engadget Expand Set to Take Over NYC

NEW YORK – Oct. 29, 2013 – Engadget today announced that its second Expand event, taking place November 9-10 (Media Preview Day Nov. 8) at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, will put New York City on the map as a hub of technology innovation. Featuring speakers from Cheezburger, Facebook, Leap Motion, Pebble Technology, Sony Electronics and others, as well as more than 50 exhibitors and sponsors, Engadget expects 10,000 attendees to visit the 85,000 sq. ft hall over the course of the event.

"If you want to know what the future holds for consumer technology, then you need to be at Engadget Expand," said Barb Dybwad, Engadget's director of business development. "From the best and brightest minds in technology to the most promising new innovators you'll be hearing from next, this is a unique event no tech enthusiast should miss."

Launching in San Francisco earlier this year, Engadget Expand is a bi-annual, bi-coastal event that brings enthusiasts together – from major consumer electronics manufacturers to up and coming inventors – to discuss the future of technology. Engadget Expand NY will feature a jam-packed two-day program of insightful panels and discussions, as well as a bustling show floor featuring exhibits from consumer electronics and robotics, to in-vehicle innovations and wearables, and more. Sponsors and exhibitors include Chevy, Lenovo, Gogo, 3D Systems, AMD, Slingbox, and many more. Try out the new Virtuix Omni virtual reality treadmill in action, witness first-hand how Ekso Bionics' bionic exoskeleton allows people with spinal cord injuries to walk again, and try your hand at performing robotic-assisted surgery with the state-of-the-art da Vinci® Surgical System -- all on the Expand show floor.

In addition, Engadget Expand welcomes back the Insert Coin Competition. Insert Coin: New Challengers is aimed at helping make inventors' dreams a reality by awarding up to $25,000 for the next great consumer tech gadget. The ten semi-finalists will attend and present to the judges at Engadget Expand where one winner will be crowned. Semi-finalists include:
