HUFFINGTON POST MEDIA GROUP LAUNCHES HUFFPOST VOCES

Spanish-Language HuffPost Voces Injects Signature Buzz, Social Media Integration and Community Into The Former AOL Latino, #2 Hispanic Site

New York, NY – May 1, 2012 - The Huffington Post Media Group (HPMG), a leading source of news, opinion, entertainment, community and digital information, announces today the launch of HuffPost Voces, a Spanish-language online community for Hispanic Americans and all who take an interest in the Latino community.HuffPost Voces (http://voces.huffingtonpost.com) incorporates and enhances the former AOL Latino, the #2 Hispanic website*, with The Huffington Post's signature mix of news, blogging, community, and social engagement.

"With HuffPost Voces we want to celebrate the vibrancy of Spanish-speaking Latino life in America," said Arianna Huffington, president and editor-in-chief of HPMG. "Latinos make up the largest minority community in the U.S. and keep the American Dream alive despite a political debate that is far too often detached from the Latino experience, if not hostile to it. Latino issues cut to the core of who we are as Americans in the 21st century, and HuffPost Voces will enlarge the conversation by adding multiple perspectives and thousands of voices."

HuffPost Voces will have a dedicated editorial team and share a publishing platform with HuffPost LatinoVoices, which is a rapidly growing English-language site launched in August 2011 for the U.S. Hispanic community. The individual but cross-pollinated sites reflect the state of Hispanic America and cater to the fast-growing, increasingly influential population of bilingual/bicultural Hispanics – an audience that gets its information and entertainment from both English-language and Spanish-language outlets. Latino Voices logs more than 35,000 comments each month and Social News users– visitors from their social media accounts – spend over 20 minutes per visit.

Said Miguel Ferrer, Managing Editor, HuffPost Voces and HuffPost Latino Voices: "HuffPost Voces will tell the story of the sea change occurring in the U.S. today. The Latino community's rapid growth over the last 10 years is leading to renewed efforts to claim a rightful seat at the table while reaffirming that Hispanic culture and roots in the immigrant experience are key elements to a restored American Dream. The stories told and shared on HuffPost Voces will help bring that dynamic to life, blending this rich editorial vein with leading edge community engagement and social media integration."

Like its predecessor AOL Latino, HuffPost Voces will offer an authentic Hispanic American perspective on current events and cultural trends from the U.S., Central and South America, Europe, and around the globe. Bloggers will include Antonio Villaraigosa, Mayor of the City of Los Angeles; Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers with Cesar Chavez; Maria Teresa Kumar, co-founder of Voto Latino; and U.S. Congressman Xavier Becerra.

Said HuffPost Voces and HuffPost Latino Voices Senior News Editor Gabriel Lerner: "By succeeding AOL Latino as a national platform for news and opinion, HuffPost Voces amplifies a message of participation and inclusion to the Latino community. HuffPost Voces will help magnify the voices of Latinos in the national conversation, bringing to light unique, challenging and underreported perspectives which for too long have not been fully recognized."

With HuffPost Voces complementing HuffPost Latino Voices, advertisers will have the ability to deliver their campaigns across the spectrum of Hispanics who are online – 23% of online Hispanics are Spanish dominant and 31% are bilinguals. Already AOL Latino's audience has the highest percentage of visitors with a $75K or greater household income in its category and the fastest growing 18-34 year old audience.

"Advertisers will be able to leverage our high-impact formats including video anddynamic targeting opportunities through the Huffington Post Media Group's network of sites," said Derek J. Murphy, General Manager, Multicultural of Huffington Post Media Group. "Our goal is to build a passionate and engaged community of readers and commenters, and offer a wide range of compelling and authentic programming, media and marketing services for top advertisers, sponsors and business partners."
