Engadget Named Official News Source for CEATEC 2011

Joshua Fruhlinger to Chair Best-in-Show "Innovation Awards" at
Largest Annual IT and Electronics Show in Japan

New York – Septmeber 27, 2011 – Engadget, the web magazine with obsessive, daily coverage of everything new in gadgets and consumer electronics, today announced it has been named official news source for CEATEC 2011, Japan's largest annual IT and electronics exhibition and conference. Engadget will stream news on the CEATEC website in both Japanese and English for the estimated 200,000 conference attendees, and Engadget reporters will have special access to CEATEC's thousands of exhibitors, getting first looks at products and concepts in mobile, home entertainment, computing, software, and more. CEATEC 2011 will be held from October 4th - 8th at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, Japan. Joshua Fruhlinger, Editorial Director for AOL Tech, made the announcement.

Additionally, Engadget Editorial Director Joshua Fruhlinger will chair the prestigious CEATEC 2011 Innovation Awards. Fruhlinger will be joined by a panel of U.S. electronics and IT journalists to judge products, technologies and services for their innovation and potential impact in the American market. Awards are bestowed in several categories and then one of the category winners is recognized with the Grand Prix as best in show. Previous winners include Toshiba for 3D video and Sharp Corporation for smartphone technology.

CEATEC, an acronym for Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies, launched in 2000 in Tokyo where it is held each year. Engadget has covered the conference since 2005. Frulingher participated in the 2008, 2009, and 2010 Innovation Awards as a member of the judging panel.
