AOL Names Curtis Brown and Erynn Petersen to the Technologies Leadership Team

New York, NY – November 3, 2010 – AOL Inc. (NYSE: AOL) today announced the appointments of Curtis Brown and Erynn Petersen to the company's Technologies team. Brown will join the company as Senior Vice President of Engineering for AOL Media, effective November 29, 2010, and Petersen will join the company as Vice President of Developer Evangelism, effective November 8, 2010. Both Brown and Peterson will report to AOL Chief Technology Officer Alex Gounares and will serve in leadership roles on the company's Global Technology Cabinet.

"AOL was founded on the idea that great engineering is behind great consumer experiences," said Gounares. "Curtis and Erynn are just the kind of world-class engineers we want to be known for -- proven leaders and innovators in the technology industry."

Brown, who has more than 15 years of experience in the technology field, will oversee the software development of AOL's broad-scale media platforms and will be responsible for the technology roadmap for AOL Media.

He joins AOL from leading educational services provider Kaplan Test Prep, where he was Chief Technology Officer. Prior to that, he served as CTO at CTB/McGraw-Hill, The Princeton Review, Oxygen Media and Skymall. He began his technology career with CDNow, where he was part of the team that built and launched one of the first music e-commerce sites. Brown is a graduate of New York University.

Petersen will lead AOL's Developer Evangelism Program, which supports AOL's APIs among the external developer community and expands upon AOL's open source strategy.

She comes to AOL from Microsoft, where she served as a partner manager to Yahoo!, responsible for advertising engineering integration. During her tenure, she also served as Principal Platform Evangelist. Prior to Microsoft, Petersen was CEO of Sonition, an auction automation technology firm, which she co-founded in 2001. She began her career at Amazon.com, where she worked in product management and business development. Petersen is a graduate of the University of Washington.
