Intuit Chooses AOL's Platform-A to Increase Awareness of TurboTax
New York, NY – January 28, 2009 – AOL today announced that Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU), maker of TurboTax®, the nation's No.-1 rated, best-selling tax software, will work with Platform-A to reach more consumers via custom advertising and distribution solutions within top vertical sites on AOL's MediaGlow publishing network and across Platform-A's third-party network.
Today's announcement comes on the heels of AOL's recent formation of MediaGlow, which centralizes AOL's entire publishing efforts, further expanding the group's global reach. Over the past year, AOL's publishing unit has created a series of individually-branded sites and experienced unprecedented growth and engagement, with page views climbing 64% year-over-year, engagement increasing 39% year-over-year and its audience growing to 73 million unduplicated users.* MediaGlow joins Platform-A, the industry's largest domestic digital advertising platform, and People Networks, the company's social media unit, as the third core business for AOL, signaling the completion of the company's transformation to an advertising-supported business.
Intuit is expanding its relationship with Platform-A and this year will focus on MediaGlow's top vertical channels. Specifically, TurboTax will have a substantial presence on the AOL.com homepage, http://www.aol.com, AOL Instant Messenger, http://www.aim.com, as well as top MediaGlow vertical sites, such as AOL Money and Finance, http://money.aol.com, AOL News, http://news.aol.com, and WalletPop, http://www.walletpop.com. In addition, TurboTax will leverage key elements of Platform-A, including Advertising.com's display network, the industry's largest display network, and Quigo's AdSonar sponsored link network.
"Platform-A understands the value of online tax resources, and we believe our relationship with TurboTax will deliver all the tools and scalability they need to engage the largest number of consumers preparing their tax returns," said Lynda Clarizio, president of Platform-A. "We are also thrilled to see TurboTax so deeply integrated into our high-quality MediaGlow properties, which AOL has spent the past 18 months revamping, combined with the tremendous scale that our third-party network provides."
"There is no other online digital network with more online channels that speak to all of our consumers in such a customized manner," said Seth Greenberg, director of online marketing for Intuit's consumer group. "Additionally, the breadth of Platform-A's advertising solutions, delivered across MediaGlow and their third party network helps us target and optimize our resources in a strategic fashion."
Tools that make it easy for millions of people to get the maximum tax refund possible with TurboTax are now available for everyone to use throughout Platform-A. For example, the TurboTax Live Community widget, now available at http://www.walletpop.com/taxes helps people quickly and easily get their tax questions answered.
Platform-A was established by integrating AOL's advertising business, Advertising.com, TACODA, Quigo and others to provide marketers with an efficient, effective means to leverage display, video, mobile, contextual, affiliate and search marketing solutions at scale. The mission of Platform-A is to enable marketers to reach their targeted audiences at scale through delivery of highly engaging and effective advertising for maximum value and results.
